Katie Ann’s Thatched Cottage is an original Skye thatched cottage, one of only a handful left on Skye and indeed the Highlands. Built in the mid 19th century on the site of a previous dwelling it is now a grade B listed building due to its unique nature and historical importance.
Thatched cottages were central to crofting life in the Highlands, built of sturdy materials, these cottages were to be found across the Highlands, providing a home for the crofters and often sharing with their animals. Katie Ann’s Thatched cottage was no different, and is named after the last person to live in it permanently. The cottage has been within the same family for over 30 years and is now available for people to experience the unique nature of a thatched cottage on the Isle of Skye.
The cottage has been recently refurbished to a very high standard, making for an exceptionally comfortable and relaxing stay with all of today's modern conveniences.
